RECSAM Hands-on Workshop on Technology for Secondary/College Mathematics
Introduction to Teaching Mathematics with MuPAD Computer Algebra System
- Place: SEAMEO RECSAM, Penang,
- Date: 3-5 April 2007
- Web page: http://www.mathpad.org/2007/recsam/
- Organizer: Jerome Chavez, jeromechavez@yahoo.com
- Workshop Facilitator: Dr. Miroslaw Majewski
SEAMEO RECSAM stands for the Regional Center for Education in Science and Mathematics of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization. The center was established in 1995 and since this time it is a major place for training mathematics and science teachers, as well as doing research in mathematics education, in the South East Asia.

SEAMEO RECSAM is located on a beautiful island Penang in Malaysia.
RECSAM Hands-on Workshop on Technology for Secondary/College Mathematics is the first workshop on using information technology organized at RECSAM. The workshop will cover fundamental skills necessary for using Computer Algebra System MuPAD in mathematics classroom. After completing the workshop participants will be able to:
- Open, save and export MuPAD notebooks
- Use MuPAD to demonstrate problems in calculus of one and two variables, algebra, analytic geometry, and statistics
- Produce interactive graphs of functions in 2D and 3D, and save them as images for publishing and web pages
- Produce complex animations and save them in the form o video files
- Have some idea about basics of programming of mathematical applications
- Develop their own notebooks for mathematics teaching.
